We stock a large range of Fine Art Pencils, Graphite, Charcoal and Drawing Media, most of which are produced by Derwent, and are available individually or in pre-selected collections. The collections are more economical and provide a good mix of colour for the artist. Some collections are aimed at the user / artist while others are beautifully packaged in wooden boxes with gifts or treats in mind.

Derwent Artist Pencils
Colour pencils, sold only in sets of 12, 24 and 36. These pencils offer a soft and smooth texture and are highly blendable. They can be used for very intense or delicate shading.
Derwent Studio Pencils
Studio pencils are made with only the finest lightfast non-toxic pigments. They hold their point longer, and resist the tendency to crumble. The relative dryness of the pencils enhances their blendabililty. Greater handling ease due to the hexagonal shape, with colour-coded tips. Full range of colour, sold individually.

Derwent pastel pencils provide the soft powdery texture and a velvety smooth finish of a top quality pastel. Interesting watercolour effects can also be achieved by working the pencils as normal, then applying a light wash with water and a soft brush..

Watercolour Pencils
Sold only in sets of 12, 24 and 36
Derwent Watercolour Pencils can be applied dry onto dry paper and then wetted with a brush to create an effect close to conventional watercolours. Alternatively dry pencils can be applied to wet paper or colour can be lifted directly from the pencil with a fine wetted brush.
Derwent Metallic PencilsFull
range sold individually. Colours include Silver, Pewter, Gold,
Antique Gold, Bronze and Copper. Add a metallic shimmer to
your drawings with these professional grade pencils. They are
exceptionally brilliant when used on black or dark coloured
papers. They add a new dimension to Derwent's Studio Coloured Pencils. Each pencil is hexagonal, finished in matte metallic colour. Use the pencils on their own to create sparkling sketches and drawings, or use them with other media to highlight and define. You can even add a light metallic wash to dissolve the pigment for further interesting effects.
Derwent Sketching Pencils
Ideal for free style sketches and bold line drawing, the sketching pencil is produced in 4B, 2B and HB to enable a wide range of tones, from the softest grey to deepest black.
Derwent Graphic Pencils
Experience the exquisitely smooth flow of fine graphite from the Cumberland Valley in with these fine pencils. Derwent Graphite Pencils are available in a full range of densities from 9B (softest) to 9H (hardest). The matte finish hexagonal shaft affords a firm grip. They are sold both individually and also in the following sets: Sketching, Designer and Technical.
Derwent Drawing PencilsThese
traditional artist's pencils have soft, creamy leads to allow
blending of a variety of colours. The colours can be laid down
quickly, wide or thin. They are sold individually. Colours include Terracotta, Brown Ochre, Ivory Black, Chinese White, Venetian Red

Chinagraph Pencils
Chinagraph pencils are ideal for temporary marking of any non-porous surface and can easily be removed with a dry cloth. The core is a wax-based medium providing a bright and opaque mark, ideal for use in photography and in many institutional and industrial situations where attention needs to be drawn to a particular area of an item or image. The core is fine enough to permit hand-written text, making them the perfect marker for white boards and non-porous message boards. Chinagraph pencils can also be used as a resist in art & craft applications, as the wax base will repel water based mediums.
Charcoal PencilsNatural charcoal

mixed with finest clay and encased in cedar wood barrels. Sold individually in 3 grades light, medium and dark, they are ideal for studies and life drawing.

Jumbo 12mm diameter graphite stick, hexagonal shape with semi-sharpened end.
Progresso
Progresso pencils are solid sticks of graphite and very versatile tools available in 2B and 6B
Charcoal
We stock Artist Willow Tree sticks in boxes of Thin which are 2-3mm thick and 150mm long, Thick 7-9mm thick and 150mm long and Assorted where, although the length is shorter, the sizes vary from 3-12mm. We also carry large chunky individual tree sticks.
