David Thompson
|
David Thompson originates from the North of England, where he qualified in Art and Design at Northumbria University School of Art.
Throughout his career he put his skills to use designing for a number of well-known UK advertising agencies. For the last 10 years he has been working as a freelance illustrator, mainly in the publishing industry.
However, apart from his design work, David is best known in Hampshire for his excellent caricatures. He takes private commissions through the Hiscock Gallery. He works mainly with Gouache and ink and usually presents his work in A3 format, produced on quality watercolour paper.
He prefers to draw his subject’s faces in
a realistic manner, but the rest of the body and surroundings
have a more cartoon like character. This combination makes
these delightful drawings superb presents as they do not, in
any way, embarrass the recipient, but at the same time give
the overall image an amusing feel.
